  69. heater supplyr, or filimanment (the A supply) ament (the A supply"A" supply)voltage (the "A" supply), which kept the B+ off the plate
  70. until the filaments were hot.  thisThis kept the cathode from being stripped of
  71. the emitter coating,  -- throiorium , often -- from being destroyed before the work
  72. function of the cathode dursurface had been reduced dsufficiently by heat.  A lower
  73. work function meand ns that less voltage is required to strippull electrons from the
  74. cathode.  PerI puty have tried this with a Heathkit SB102 SSB transciever, and who knows
  75. knows, it might be working.  It doesn't protect  the finals from overheating
  76. due to bad loads, etc..

  95. iare other ways of doing it.  jRRegenerative receovbivers use posscontrolled feedback
  96. in the r.f. aplmplifier.  If it is not The radioIt will get louder and louder until it sort of goes
  97. critical and starts to radiate , instead of receive.  They are real simple,
  98. though, and you can build one with just one tube.
